Always Waiting for the Weekend...

This weekend was a good one. Janelle spent the night Friday & we decided she should finally see what Alsancak looks like at night. So we went out (after listening to the "Proud to Be an American" cd & eating the oreos her parents sent) & painted the town red.
Saturday we had our turkce dershane (Turkish course) & then we (Janelle, Alex, Mina, Kyra & I) went to a nargile cafe. My favorite flavor is now officially melon-mint. It's not too strong & leaves your mouth feeling so clean. Next we went back to my house to watch Fight Club, eat Thanksgiving leftovers (from the freezer, dont worry) & drink hot cocoa/sahlep (a thick, milky drink with cinnamon on top... sooooo good).
Sunday, I went to Bostanli to "run" with Mina, Alex & Kyra. I got lost on the way there AND back, which suits my general mood as of late. However, the actual DAY was really nice, relaxed. The sun was out & it was warm enough to wear a t-shirt, IN DECEMBER.

Also, Sunday was the official 3rd month point for me, Alex, Mina, & Katie. Happy 3 months to us! The first 1/4 or 1/3 is over! Wow!!

By the way, we are doing Secret Santa between the exchange students. For the next two weeks we are giving something small to our recipient & then on Christmas Rotary is sponsoring a dinner for us. We will give the big gift there. I'm so excited!

Now it's Monday & I can't wait for the weekend again.

Hi Britton,
Good to read your news. Sounds like you are having fun, at least a good part of the time. Your Christmas gift/gifts sound like fun. Not just one gift, but many. It prolongs the Christmas gift giving which always makes it enjoyable no matter how old you are.

It is really snowy today, and probably 6-7 inches of snow are on the ground. Makes it really seem like the Christmas holidays. We will leave for Florida next week. We will ofcourse be there for Christmas, but it just doesn't seem the same. Some people do decorate their homes and yards in the park, probably because they are from the north. There will be no snow ofcourse, and hardly any Christmas music in the stores. We won't miss the snow and cold, but the old fashion Michigan Christmas we will.

Love you lots,

Grandma Ginny & Grandpa Bob
